Sotsuensiki @ Neesa chan's Hoikuen
|
|
Attended the Graduation Party at Goikuho Hoikuen this morning. Eventhough it was not for Neesa chan nor her kumi, the school invited me to witness this very special ceremony.
The formal graduation ceremony was held in the shrine next to the school. The graduates were dressed in a special poncho cum robe as they were called to the front to receive their certificate from the principal.
After a group photo session of the 'graduates' and their families as well as the Senseis, we adjourned to the school hall for the informal post-party.
Not only did we have lunch together (in the form of halal sandwiches) but we were also entertained with a few performances by the Senseis and the students.
The graduation ceremony today was not only to celebrate the students who are going to be promoted to elementary school but also as a gesture of thanks to the Senseis who had been preparing the students for school life.

1 Million Yen Friend in Hiroshima

We had been thinking of buying Neesa chan a bicycle for quite some time. Even long before her birthday.
The opportunity did not arrive till today. Even then we had quite an adventure in the quest of the perfect bicycle for our little princess.

Hina Matsuri @ Okayama
|
|
Went to Jennie's hometown in Okayama to help her family prepare for the upcoming Hina Matsuri (also known as Girl Festival or Doll Festival).
Experienced a lot of new things, from the delicious Chirashi-sushi and unique sakura tea, to erecting and decorating the 7-tier platform used to display all the 15 dolls.
After washing our hands, we were asked to wear white cotton gloves. Then only were we permitted to touch the dolls ( One Emperor, One Empress, 3 court ladies, 5 male musicians, 2 ministers, 3 servants excluding the small furnitures, meal dishes etc)
This is the result after 3 solid hours of toiling with the dolls and making sure that all the dolls are positioned at the correct corner, they each had the correct accesories and that both sides of the platforms are symmetrical.
The masterpiece I helped created at Jenny's will stand proud and tall for a month before they are being disassembled, wrapped with tissue paper, put into their original boxes and stored away till next year's Hina Matsuri. They'd better do this fast, or else Jenny will have trouble getting Mr. Right to propose to her.

Nabe party @ Jenny's
|
|
Was invited by a Japanese classmate to her apartment for a party. Since she knows that two of her guests are Moslems, she opted for a meat-free dish. Not only did we have nabe for main dish, but she also prepared some Italian-inspired pizza-cracker dish and a Spanish-inspired omelette with tonnes of potatoes for appetizer. For dessert, soy-based pudding with blueberry toppings. If Jenny would not end up as a Senior High English teacher, I reckon she can open up a restaurant with her excellent culinary skills
Domo arigatou gozaimashita! Oishikatta desu!!!

Sankanbi @ Goikuho Hoikuen
|

Attended Open Day for Parents at Neesa chan's nursery school this morning. Had to go alone as Idhamu-san had to work.
Had a glimpse of what Neesa chan and friends had to go through every morning.
Yamashita-sensei and Takahashi-sensei even prepared an activity for both mother and child - We had to prepare headgear similar to the ones worn by the emperor and empress in conjunction with Hina Matsuri (doll festival).
After that, the children took turns wearing the 'grand costume' and had their pictures taken.
Before being dismissed, we had the chance to observe an interesting and interactive demonstration on road safety.
Kudos to Kuroneko Yamato team!
